Counted Thread is a free page published by PaintedApp, LLC ("we"). It turns a photograph into a counted cross-stitch chart, and it does the work in your own browser. This notice says what the page does with information about you. The short answer is that it collects none.
What we collect
Nothing. There is no account, no sign-in, no form that sends anything to us, no newsletter and no payment. The photograph you choose, the settings you move, the chart made from them and the files you save are all handled by your browser, on your device. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else.
Your photograph
When you choose or drop a photograph, your browser opens it, reads its pixels into memory and hands them to a background thread on your device, which makes the chart. The photograph is never uploaded. The page's security policy, which your browser enforces whatever the page's own code tries to do, allows connections only back to countedthread.vercel.app, and that site serves fixed files and runs no code that could receive an image. The policy is printed on the page, as your browser received it, under "The photograph stays here". When you close the tab, the photograph and its chart are gone from the page; the files you saved stay wherever you saved them.
Cookies and tracking
Counted Thread sets no cookies. It runs no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no fingerprinting and no third-party scripts, and it loads nothing from any other site.
What stays on your device
After your first visit, a service worker keeps a copy of the page in your browser's cache so that it opens without a network connection. That cache holds only the page's own files: the code, the fonts, the floss table, the icons, and the sample photograph with its chart. It never holds your photograph. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser's settings.
Server logs
The page is served by Vercel. Like every web host, Vercel's servers handle the technical details of each request, such as an IP address and the time, in order to deliver the files and to protect the service against abuse. We do not use those records to identify or follow visitors, and we do not combine them with anything else. Vercel's own privacy policy governs how it treats them.
Children
Because the page collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.
Your rights
Data protection laws such as the GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act give you rights to access, correct and delete personal information a business holds about you. We hold none about you from this page, so there is nothing to hand over or erase; you are still welcome to ask, and we will answer.
Changes
If the page ever begins to collect anything, this notice will change before it does, and the date at the top will say when.
